The need for this project was to create privacy from the tall buildings surrounding the rooftop patio, shielding the rooftop space itself from the visual and audible clutter of the road bellow, the surrounding rooftops, and the outdated mechanical pieces surrounding the area. The site required a highly load resistant and structural solution due to winds, snow loads, and exposure on the top of the 10th story of the building. Lastly, rooftop decks are notoriously high maintenance areas when it comes to vegetation, and so a low maintenance option was needed.
Parsoleil panels provided the shade and screening elements needed for this rooftop deck while the Liberty Vertigris finish hinted at the “green wall” look. Because there is no vegetation in or around the panels, maintenance is essentially zero. The patented Parasoleil Bracket System ensures the structural integrity of the rooftop installation. The panels were used for both screening and shading applications, tying in the two elements quite nicely. The pattern selected allows for air flow, but maximum visual barrier as well as dynamic aesthetic interest.
