A storefront is one of the most critical marketing canvas’ for a retail location, especially in such a walkable place as the Upper East Side in New York City. The challenge in this project was to enhance the exterior stucco walls without incurring a major budget line item, and also ensure that then end result didn’t look cheap. As it was a renovation and didn’t afford the flexibility of brand new construction, there were existing conditions to work with as well. The client is also committed to a very specific design aesthetic without every store being the same.
The designer selected a pattern from the library of Parasoleil patterns that resonated with the aesthetic of the store, as well as a stop-in-your-tracks Patina Powdercoat finish that almost moves in the light as potential customers walk by. The panels were easily mounted directly to the stucco exterior with off-the-shelf stand-off hardware in a quick and simple install by local professionals. Every panel is identical, allowing the overall cost of the project to stay within the required limited budget. This project models the perfect solution for fancy-ing up an existing exterior with a limited budget and a lot of creativity.
