Project Background

Kenneth Hahn State Recreation Area is an urban oasis and one of the largest inner-city parks and regional open spaces in greater Los Angeles. This lush and peaceful retreat offers new and returning hikers some of the best and most breathtaking views unlike any other in the city. Baldwin Terrace was a new installation that required fixtures that could withstand everything from vandalism to kids climbing up top at night to see the city lights from even higher than the hill the park sits on.

Approach

Parasoleil’s laser-cut aluminum panels were found to be a suitable shade solution for athletes and families alone, on top of a hill in this park, without it looking like another boxed in shelter. The panels allow for air-flow, and needed minimal steel beam supports.
